Project R.E.A.D.Y Program

"Sadness. Madness. Craziness. All of these will haunt one who gets addicted to illegal drugs."

The proliferation of illegal drugs has been one of the most challenging problems in our country for how many years. It wasted a lot of money, ruined relationships, and even took precious lives. Hence, to eradicate its prevalence, the government has been continuously making its steps in strengthening the war against drugs.

The policemen have become vital frontliners in this war. They have played a very important role on this. Numerous operations have been conducted in order to eliminate drug offenders. However, guns are not the only weapon we can use during operations in fighting illegal drugs. You know what is more powerful? That is our voice. Voice that speaks and fights.

Raising awareness on illegal drugs is indeed important to the community. Sharing knowledge on its cause and effects will enable people to visualize what may happen to them when they get involved in drugs. Thus, the Sta Rosa City Police Station has been very active in raising the awareness on this issue among the community especially the youth- who are more vulnerable in getting affected on this problem.

Every week, Sta Rosa CPS conducts Project R.E.A.D.Y. program among grade school students. Project R.E.A.D.Y. means Resistance Education Against Drugs for the Youth which contains four modules and every week, one module is discussed by the police officers.[1]

This morning at Central III Elementary School, the second module was discussed to Grade 5 and 6 students by PCPT DONNA GAURANO with the topic ‘Combating Pressure to use Drugs by saying NO’. It reiterated how pressure leads people in using illegal drugs and how people could resist it by firmly saying ‘no’.

Putting an end on this very challenging problem can be possible if everybody will help one another. If the Kapulisan, Simbahan, and Pamayanan will work together, definitely we can finally eradicate illegal drugs. With just a simple ‘no’ can change a lot. That’s because SAYING NO TO DRUGS MEANS A HAPPY LIFE.
